Update: Disruption to passenger services has now cleared
Northern is advising passengers to check before travelling this morning (Friday) after a broken-down freight train is blocking a Trans-Pennine route.
The freight train has broken down in the Burnley Manchester Road area and is blocking both lines between Burnley and Hebden Bridge as well as the line to Todmorden.
Network Rail are on the scene and say that the freight train cannot move due to the slippery rails in the area.
Disruption is expected until at least 1 pm and rail replacement buses are in action.
Ticket acceptance is in place with Transpennine Express between York and Manchester.

A bit of hand sanding required I fancy.

I caught the culprit coming through Accrington some 211 minutes late, with express trains backed up behind it.
@Mike_Ashworth Almost headed out to see it too, but was posting parcels when the consist set off again
That luck for you, I thought you may have gone and give it a push.
