Update: Disruption to passenger services has now cleared

Northern is advising passengers to check before travelling this morning (Friday) after a broken-down freight train is blocking a Trans-Pennine route.

The freight train has broken down in the area and is blocking both lines between and as well as the line to .

Network Rail are on the scene and say that the freight train cannot move due to the slippery rails in the area.

Disruption is expected until at least 1 pm and rail replacement buses are in action.

Ticket acceptance is in place with Transpennine Express between York and .
