Can remember Stratford class 47s
With grey roofs. One class 47 blew up, It still had a steam boiler. Loved Paddington station.
They were always there.
I’ve always loved 47s since my late Dad managed to get me in the cab of D1932 at Weymouth, prior to returning home to Bristol. The driver even allowed me to stop the engine!.
I worked on Class 47 locos, or Brush 4’s as we called them. This was between 1973 and 78 when I was a Secondman at King’s Cross. I had further experience of them in tge 1990’s as a Driver Manager.
I have travelled behind and photographed many incarnations of this loco. The sound is amazing and their variety incredible.
Awesome loco very good book
