The East Railway has announced that 60163 Tornado will be visiting them for their upcoming Legends of Steam Gala, which takes place in March 2025.

The A1 is currently coming back from overhaul and will be joined by resident locomotives, 34092 City of Wells and 34081 92 Squadron; the latter recently arrived at the railway.

LMS Black 5 No. 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier will also join in the fun, taking a break from its mainline activities before it heads to Scotland to haul the famous Jacobite services.

Timetables are already live, and fares can be found on the ELR website

Last year’s Legends of Steam Gala featured 45690 Leander, 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley and 70000 Britannia, and you can see a trailer for RailAdvent’s DVD set below – more information can be found by clicking here.

    1. Two ECS movements have been booked for Castleton Hopwood Gf/Bury East Lancs Railway so there is a possibility they might come via the Mainline in the same time era. However, WCR have lent some coaches to ELR meaning that one of these services may possibly be to pick up some MK1 coaches.

      1. Looks like we won’t know until the day what is going on, I have observed that for mainline tours WCR and others are moving over to Mark 3 coaches and this means that the only ones using the mark 1’ coaches are heritage lines.

  1. Earlier this week Rail Advent said a Christmas event featuring Tornado had been cancelled because the locomotive had broken down. Is it now in service again or what?
