Work on upgrades to platform 4 at has been completed by .

The £1 million refurbishment, which has enabled the platform to be brought back into public use, aims to prevent platform congestion, leading to more efficient travel for passengers and extra capacity, with plans to reintroduce direct services to and from Kings Cross.

Having been used as a stabling point for empty trains for several years, platform 4 has been transformed by the major upgrades that started in 2022.

Reconstruction and repair of its walls below platform height, the installation of a new drainage system and lighting, and the laying of new tracks all ensure a safe and dependable railway.

Additionally, a waiting shelter has been erected to offer passengers a place to sit and protection from the elements.

“The reopening of platform 4 is great for Cleethorpes and the surrounding areas, boosting capacity and reliability for passengers travelling along the rail network.

We would like to thank passengers and the local community for their patience and understanding while we completed these essential improvements.”

  1. Nice to see a new platform built at Cleethorpes to accommodate more extra trains. Same with what Bradford Forster Square station is having a new extra platform to accommodate more extra trains.
