The Seaton Tramway is a narrow gauge electric tramway. It is located in the East Devon district of the South West of England.
Its route travels alongside the Axe Estuary and the River Coly. Much of its route runs between the estuary and the Seaton Wetlands nature reserves.
Passengers on the trams can enjoy views of wildlife in the estuary and the nature reserves.
At one end of the route is the coastal resort of Seaton. The current Seaton station was built in 2017-18. From there, the tram service runs through the village of Colyford and on to the ancient town of Colyton.
Seaton Tramway operates a fleet of fourteen trams. These include an open-top Metropolitan-style tram and a Blackpool-style ‘Open Boat’. The trams were purpose-built by the company, and the designs were based on heritage trams that ran in various British towns and cities during the twentieth century.
The Tramway featured in the Heritage Railway Association’s shortlists last year.
