Amey secures £35m contract for consultancy services in Northern Ireland

Amey has secured a £35m contract from Northern ‘s Department for Infrastructure (DfI) – Transport and Road Asset Management (TRAM) to deliver major and minor highway improvements throughout the province.

The Department for Infrastructure – Transport and Road Asset Management is responsible for delivering a wide range of civil engineering consultancy services throughout Northern Ireland’s transport network.

The awarded contract is for engineering services consultancy that will deliver major and minor highway improvements throughout Northern Ireland, including active travel schemes and a more sustainable transport infrastructure.

With an initial contract length of three years and an option to extend for another two, Amey will be required to deliver a range of civil engineering consultancy services and associated specialist services, including project scoping, feasibility assessments, conducting and implementing preliminary designs, procurement assessments, and site supervision.

Amey will also work with the Department for Infrastructure on a project-by-project basis to provide the best-value alternatives to traditional professional service procurement, as well as sharing and promoting best-practice procedures and systems for such projects.

Amey has had a partnership with the Department for Infrastructure since 2005, and among recent contract awards was a £30m contract to deliver water and engineering services across Northern Ireland.

As confirmation of Amey’s expanding work in Northern Ireland, it recently built a new consulting office and design hub in Belfast, which was opened by John O Dowd, Northern Ireland’s Minister for Infrastructure.

In September, Amey was awarded an £800 million contract for work on the Transpennine Route Upgrade,
and in June the company won two contracts for maintenance of signalling and telecoms equipment and overhead line equipment in from Network Rail’s Eastern region.
