The (WHHR) is preparing for the festive season with the announcement that this year’s Santa Specials will run on Saturday, 14th and Sunday, 15th December.

The Santa Specials will depart from the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway’s station in Tremadog Road, at 10.30, 12.30, and 14.30 on both days.

As well as enjoying the train ride, visitors will be able to meet Santa, play games, and enjoy rides on a miniature railway.

A number of model railways will be on view, as well as craft stalls and a well-stocked shop whilst refreshments will be available from Caffi Russell’s Café.

The Welsh Highland Heritage Railway station in Porthmadog is just across the road from the main line station on the Cambrian Coast line.

The cost for a experience is £15 for adults and £13.50 for children, and bookings can be made by email to [email protected] or by telephone at 01766-513402.

Last year, the ownership of a Baldwin Locomotive that was built and saw service during World War I was transferred by the Imperial War Museum to the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway where it is on display in the museum.

Although associated with the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway, it should not be confused with the similarly-named Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway which is also running Santa Special trains.
