Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway are urging passengers to plan ahead as defective track means that trains are subject to major disruption.
The defective track has been discovered between Rugby and Milton Keynes Central, which means that trains have to run at a reduced speed.
Trains may be delayed by up to 60 minutes, and major disruption is expected until the end of service.
Trains are also being delayed by flooding at Northampton, further adding to disruption.
