The line between Wakefield and is currently closed as the electricity supply has been turned off.

Northern Powergrid is currently attending to a site near the railway to repair a pole that carries electricity wires across the railway.

It is hoped that the railway will be reopened later today, but David Horne, MD of LNER, says that 10 trains will be cancelled in each direction this morning.

The Edinburgh – London services via York are not affected by this .

Rail replacement buses are in operation conveying Northern and London North Eastern Railway passengers between and Doncaster.

Trains can run between Wakefield Kirkgate and Doncaster but may cause a delay of up to 15 minutes.

LNER has ticket acceptance in place with CrossCountry (between York / Leeds and Leeds / Wakefield Westgate), Northern (but may be affected) and TransPennine Express.

Northern says that trains will be cancelled until 6 pm today between Doncaster and Leeds or will start from Wakefield Westgate.

They say passengers can use other services that will serve smaller stations, please check with the operator.

Please check National Rail Enquiries for the latest travel advice.

Apologies for disruption if you are planning to travel on our LNER Leeds-London King’s Cross services this morning. Due to damage to a Northern Power Grid pole carrying electricity cables which cross over the railway near Adwick, the line between Wakefield Westgate and Doncaster is closed.
