Great Western Railway train services will experience disruptions due to enhancement works scheduled for weekends throughout October.

Network Rail has plans in place to undertake track work around the Cheltenham, Worcester and Southampton areas.

Train services between Gloucester and Worcester will be affected on the weekends of the 5th & 6th and 12th & 13th of October and from Sunday the 20th of October, until 11:00 am on Sunday the 27th of October.

GWR has scheduled replacement buses between Gloucester, Cheltenham Spa and Worcester Foregate Street.

Additionally, buses will substitute for CrossCountry trains between Birmingham New Street and Gloucester, as well as between Bromsgrove and Cheltenham Spa.

Furthermore, train services from Worcestershire Parkway to Great Malvern will be affected by engineering work on the weekend of the 12 & 13 October and Sunday 20 October.

GWR trains heading for Southampton Central will be affected across every weekend in October, 5th & 6th, 12th & 13th, 19th & 20th, and 26th & 27th October.

Train services will still run between Romsey and Fareham but will follow a different route calling additionally at Chandlers Ford and Eastleigh.

At Eastleigh, a replacement bus service will be in operation to take customers on the final part of their journey to Southampton Central.

“This improvement work forms part of an ongoing programme of maintenance, helping to ensure we can continue to provide consistent and reliable services.

To keep people moving as quickly and efficiently as we can however, while this work is completed buses will replace trains and journey times may be a little longer, so please do check before you travel.”

The Great Western Railway isn’t the only train company disrupted by engineering works this October, there are also planned disruption’s on the East Coast Main Line.
