Freight trains are always popular at the various heritage railway galas each year, and the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway are no exception.
In the latest upload to our YouTube channel, which is part 1 of Disc 2 of our visit to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway’s 2020 Spring Steam Gala, we see 43924 in charge of a freight train at the popular Railway Children station of Oakworth.
However, first up we see 45596 Bahamas, which is a popular steam locomotive on the mainline, heading to Keighley with the first train of the day, an ECS movement from Oxenhope.
Sticking at Oakworth, we see Taffy Tank No. 85 arrive and depart with a Keighley to Oxenhope service.
With the line only having one passing loop in full passenger operation, we had to wait for No. 85 to return to Oakworth with a train back to Keighley.
After Taff Vale passed through, it was time for Midland Railway 4F No. 43924 to head to Oxenhope with a popular freight train service.
These are always popular at galas as it is only one of the few times a year to see freight wagons passing through a quaint countryside station.
We finish this video at Damems Junction as 43924 heads back to Keighley with the freight train.
