Northern and its partners have been teaching thousands of schoolchildren how to stay safe on the new Northumberland Line.
The line is set to reopen following a £298.5m project by the Department for Transport, Network Rail, Northern and Northumberland County Council.
The 18-mile line runs between Newcastle and Ashington and Northern has visited almost every school within a two-mile radius of the route over the last year.
Network Rail, Morgan Sindall and Northumberland County Council joined with Northern to talk about the dangers of trespassing on the line.
Northern recently announced that the maximum fare for a train trip is to be set at £3.
“It’s fantastic to see the pupils have responded so well to these sessions and many of them understand that trespassing on the railway can have devastating consequences.
Jason Wade, regional director for Northern
