Stadler to build battery trains for Denmark

Lokaltog A/S is advancing its decarbonization efforts in the Zealand region by transitioning to battery-powered trains from , a leading manufacturer of battery-electric multiple units.

These battery-powered trains facilitate a comfortable and zero-emission journey, marking a significant move towards sustainable and decarbonised transportation in .

The delivery of the new trains is scheduled for 2028.

The agreement finalised in Taastrup, Denmark, encompasses the acquisition of 14 FLIRT Akku trains with a provision for an additional 10 units.

“We at Lokaltog are delighted to have found a supplier for our future battery trains. They are to
replace our IC2 vehicles, which have served us well since 1997. These are the trains of the future
that we are buying now, and they will hopefully be on our tracks and bringing comfort to our
customers for many years
