ScotRail to recruit engineers at Inverness depot

Train operator is inviting skilled engineers to apply for new at its depot, as it expands its engineering workforce in the Highlands in order to improve reliability.

ScotRail is one of the largest operators, providing nearly one hundred million passenger journeys per year. Inverness is one of four major maintenance hubs that it runs in .

At these depots, workers maintain and overhaul more than six hundred trains, with ScotRail priding itself on the high quality and engineering standards that it achieves. 

Five years ago, ScotRail upgraded the Inverness depot by adding new equipment.

ScotRail has been accredited as a Top Employer on several occasions. It is offering posts with wages starting from £47,338 per year and increasing to £53,039 after training is completed.

The operator describes the new jobs as “a great opportunity for skilled mechanical and electrical engineers”.

Candidates must have the relevant electrical or mechanical qualifications, and must also be familiar with quality management (ISO 9001) procedures.
