The National Railway Museum has sent RailAdvent an update on Flying Scotsman, with the locomotive currently based at Locomotion at Shildon.
The museum says that they are working with Northern Steam Operations to facilitate the locomotive’s operation for the full term of the contract.
Northern Steam Operations was announced as the new custodian of the world famous locomotive back in June, taking over from Riley & Son.
Meanwhile, they are continuing to work with Northern Steam Operations to develop a calendar of work for the world-famous locomotive.
A calendar of work is set to be shared in due course.

Good news. It will be nice to see this national treasure operating with the new custodians. Looking at Northern Steam’s web site, they have done some great projects over the years and it will be nice to see the work they do on Flying Scotsman.
So, finally we have news… that there is no news… yet. The Science Museum Group’ s stewardship of this national treasure has been disappointing this year.
Should be called Northern Steam Lack-Of-Operations Limited at this point
Oh really ?? It does all seem rather pear shaped , dragging on and on….
