National Railway Museum provides update on steam locomotive 60103 Flying Scotsman

The has sent an update on Flying Scotsman, with the locomotive currently based at Locomotion at .

The museum says that they are working with Steam Operations to facilitate the locomotive’s operation for the full term of the contract.

Northern Steam Operations was announced as the new custodian of the world famous locomotive back in June, taking over from Riley & Son.

Meanwhile, they are continuing to work with Northern Steam Operations to develop a calendar of work for the world-famous locomotive.

A calendar of work is set to be shared in due course.

We are working with Northern Steam Operations to facilitate Flying Scotsman’s operation for the full term of the contract. We are continuing to work with Northern Steam Operations Limited on the development of a calendar. This will be shared in due course.

  1. Good news. It will be nice to see this national treasure operating with the new custodians. Looking at Northern Steam’s web site, they have done some great projects over the years and it will be nice to see the work they do on Flying Scotsman.

  2. So, finally we have news… that there is no news… yet. The Science Museum Group’ s stewardship of this national treasure has been disappointing this year.
