Major Disruption continues as flooding closes number of railway lines

UPDATE 09:50: The line between and has now reopened – trains may still be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes whilst the service recovers


Transport for Wales is urging passengers not to travel as overnight heavy rain has closed a number of railway lines.

Services between and Shrewsbury cannot run, with trains between and Aberystwyth starting/terminating at Shrewsbury.

Trains between Birmingham International and will start/terminate at Chester.

The line between Hereford and Shrewsbury is currently closed and no trains can run, a limited bus service is running though.

Trains cannot run between Crewe and Chester until further notice.

Ticket acceptance is in place with Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, Great Western Railway and London Northwestern Railway / West Midlands Railway.

Disruption is expected until 1 pm today (17th October)
