Greater Anglia will be carrying out three major engineering projects over the festive period and advises passengers to check their journey planner before travelling.

Work on both the Bishopgate Tunnel and Liverpool Street station means that Greater Anglia trains will not run into Central London from Christmas Day until Thursday, 2nd January.

Many services, including those on the Great Eastern Mainline and West Anglia routes will start or terminate at Stratford, where passengers can transfer to the Elizabeth Line or TfL Underground trains to travel into the capital.

The Stanstead Express will start and terminate at Tottenham Hale.

Work to renew the signalling around Cambridge also means no trains operating in this area.

Instead, buses will replace trains on the routes from Royston and Audley End to Cambridge and Cambridge North from Christmas Eve to Monday, 6th January.

Construction work is also due to continue at the new Cambridge South station.

In Essex, rail replacement buses will run between Billericay and Witham on the 27th and 28th of December to allow for work on the building of the new Beaulieu Park station.

Services will be finishing early on Christmas Eve, at 22.15. There will then be no trains on Christmas Day nor, apart from the Stanstead Express, on Boxing Day.

New Year’s Eve will see a normal service on most routes and there will be a Bank Holiday timetable on New Year’s Day.

Apart from the work around Cambridge, Greater Anglia are planning to start up normal services again on Thursday, 2nd January.

Since the railway tends to be much quieter over this period, Network Rail uses it to carry out essential upgrade work …
