The formation of the to Community Rail Partnership has today been announced by aiming to promote rail services in the area.

This isn’t the first community rail partnership on the Greater Anglia network, with the likes of the Bittern Line CRP and East Suffolk Lines CRP proving popular.

A CRP not only helps promote rail services but also helps complete improvements to stations, timetables and trains.

The Ipswich – Cambridge CRP serves the likes of Ipswich, Needham Market, Stowmarket, , Thurston, and Newmarket.

Funding for the CRP will come from Suffolk County Council and Greater Anglia, with other support coming from other local councils that the line serves.

“We’re delighted to announce the formation of a new Community Rail Partnership for the Ipswich to Cambridge rail route. We know how successful CRPs can be in building awareness of, and helping to improve, local rail services.

Jonathan Denby, Head of Corporate Affairs at Greater Anglia
