Engineering work to disrupt Bristol to Bath train services

Train services through Bath will be disrupted for five days starting next Sunday 27th October whilst Network Rail carries out vital maintenance work.

On Sunday, 27th October, Network Rail will be carrying out bridge repairs between and , which will affect train services between Bath Spa and Westbury.

Rail replacement buses will provide alternative services between Bath Spa and or Westbury.

Unlike the following four days, there will be no effect on train services between Bath Spa and or Cardiff Central, or between Westbury and Portsmouth Harbour or Weymouth.

From Monday, 28th to Thursday, 31st October, there will be no trains between Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads whilst Network Rail engineers carry out track replacement between Keynsham and Bristol Temple Meads.

There will be no direct train service between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads via Bath as trains will be diverted via an alternative route and will not stop at Chippenham or Bath Spa.

There will still be a train service between London Paddington and Bath Spa via Chippenham but at a reduced frequency.

During the four days of the , a rail-replacement bus service will operate between Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads, and rail customers can also use local bus services between Bath and Bristol.

Trains will run between Cardiff Central or Gloucester and Bristol Temple Meads, and between Bath Spa and Portsmouth Harbour or Weymouth.

In September, the line between Castle Cary and Weymouth closed for a week to allow essential maintenance to take place, and in March the line between Yeovil Pen Mill and Weymouth was closed for four days.
