The LMS Patriot Project has released a short update on 5551 The Unknown Warrior, with important steps being made towards seeing 5551 steam.

Rectification work on the outside cylinders has been completed by Riley & Son Ltd during September.

The two cylinders with liners fitted and 2 blanks and 4 valve liners have been delivered to Tyseley Loco Works which means that reassembly can continue.

The cylinders have been refitted to the frames before frame alignment checks can be carried out.

Work on the cylinder valve will be carried out at Tyseley, including any design work.
