From the start of the December timetable, Southeastern will be running 220 more services each week.
The December timetable starts on Sunday, 15th December, and Southeastern will operate 44 more services each weekday, including on the following routes:
- 12 extra peak-time Cannon Street ‘Rounder’ services on the Woolwich and Sidcup lines.
- Additional peak-time services between Victoria and Orpington via Herne Hill.
- Extra peak-time services from Victoria to Orpington via Herne Hill.
- Two more evening services from Charing Cross to Maidstone East will be extended to Ashford International.
Details of extra services to be introduced from the start of the December timetable are now included in online journey planners; the new timetable has also been published on the Southeastern website.
As well as the extra trains, there will be slight changes to the times of some trains to provide earlier services to London or to allow more time for getting on and off certain trains during school term.
The changes to the December timetable follow the success of last year;‘s change when an extra 100 trains were introduced each week, as well as improvements made during this year’s June timetable change.
“As part of our commitment to building a better, more reliable and sustainable railway we continually monitor passenger demand and listen to stakeholder feedback. With this timetable change in December we are providing more services and opportunities to travel by train.
Scott Brightwell, Southeastern’s Operations and Safety Director
Responses
At least Southeastern now has all 30 Class 707s cascaded from South Western Railway. They should plan ahead to replace the Class 465 and Class 466 Networker trains and to order new trains to replace them in the next 5 years.
Hmm; no mention of any improvements to the poorly-served line to Dover via Canterbury. Twice-hourly service still not reinstated following lockdown.
As usual, it’s the ‘Metro’ users plus Maidstone who benefit – no relief for the East Kent folk who are standing from Canterbury on the HS1 trains, while three of four Javelin’s sit in the sidings at Ashford.
Southeastern is incompetent.
What a great improvement to the Southeastern services! One of many grateful customers.
