Škoda Group secures order from Bulgaria for 25 electric multiple units

Škoda Group has secured an order worth more than €500 million from for 20 RegioPanter type electric trains.

The order is for 20 four-car RegioPanter type electric units with the option of a further five. Full service provision for 15 years is included in the order.

RegioPanter electric units are in operation in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia, and have recently started trial operations in Estonia.

More than 300 of these units are either in service or on order. They meet TSI specifications and all current European standards.

The new units will replace outdated trains and feature over 300 ergonomic seats, air-conditioning, on-board Wi-Fi, and internal and external CCTV.

All units will incorporate Škoda’s advanced digital technology to ensure greater reliability and passenger safety.

They will be fitted with ETCS Level 2, which guarantees the highest safety requirements in accordance with European standards, and their advanced technology and lower energy consumption will result in significant operational savings.

With exceptional performance and reliability, the trains have a maximum speed of 160 km/h and operate from 25 kV AC 50 Hz overhead electrification.

Passengers will benefit from ergonomic seats, air-conditioned interiors and connectivity.

A low-floor and 1,500 mm wide doors will ensure full accessibility and allow fast, safe and convenient passenger boarding. Multifunctional areas will be provided for disabled persons, prams, and bicycles.
