The Severn Valley Railway(SVR) has announced Yuletide events to appeal to everyone, so it’s time to start planning your visit!

The award-winning heritage railway runs through 16 miles of beautiful Worcestershire and Shropshire countryside.

First and foremost are the Santa trains, departing from the winter wonderland of Kidderminster Town station.

Services run on weekends from 30 November, with additional ones on the 23rd and 24th of December.

Families can reserve seating and there will be a present for each child.

Also running on weekends from 30 November (with an extra service on Christmas Eve) is the Enchanted Express, departing from Bridgnorth and Santa and his friends will be on board! 

Built around the classic poem, “Twas the Night Before Christmas”, this magical event features narration by the unmistakable voice of Dame Julie Walters.

For food and drink lovers, SVR has put together some first-class dining specials for Christmas.

On selected dates in December, there are Enchanted Afternoon Teas, Festive Gin Trains, a premium Yuletide Evening Dining Experience, and the Festive Spice Train.

And, this year for the first time there is the Evening Santa Pies service, departing from Kidderminster on 13 and 20 December, featuring a two-course meal.

And, if it’s festive music you fancy, then the special Carol Trains are a must.

You will travel from Kidderminster to The Engine House at Highley, for a Christmas concert amongst the locomotives on display.

You can feast on mince pies and mulled wine.
