The has announced that a former London Transport diesel locomotive has arrived at its new home.

Sentinel locomotive, DL82, is powered by a Rolls Royce engine and was acquired by London Transport but was once used by an open cast iron ore mine at Corby in Northamptonshire in 1971.

The locos worked for London Transport at Neasden and Lillie Bridge depots where they replaced GWR pannier locomotives.

DL82 never worked to Ongar in its LT days but it is an important representative of London Transport traction.

Subject to training and repairs, it is hoped that the locomotive will be in action between the 20th and 22nd of September, offering cab rides during the railway’s diesel gala.
