Network Rail thanks M62 users after bridge installation.

has thanked M62 users for their patience after another closure took place.

The work over the weekend of 20th – 23rd September saw the new bridge transported into position.

The old bridge was demolished earlier this month.

100 engineers helped wheel the bridge into position on Saturday morning and then worked to secure the structure into place.

Until the 25th of September, the railway between and will remain closed whilst track and equipment are installed.

“I’d like to thank motorists and railway passengers for their patience this weekend while we installed a brand-new railway bridge across the M62.

“Castleton bridge plays a vital role in the country’s railway network and this work will support the safe transportation of passengers and freight for years to come. This has been a vital project for Network Rail and we are grateful for the support of National Highways to deliver it.

  1. The trams need to link The Interchange and Forster Square stations with a through non-stop journey. The tram must standard Network Rail gauge of 1485mm .
    Finally the trams need to go South to Dewsbury via Low Moor, Cleckheaton, Heckmondwike, Dewsbury Rail & Bus stations.

    1. Have I missed something? What has this comment got to do with the bridge replacement article, apologies in advance if I’ve misunderstood.

    2. I think that you have posted this against the wrong article.

      Having said that a tram would be problematic in doing what you are suggesting and it would be better to look at a Light rail system that can run on normal heavy rail just like the Manchester Metro Link system (this is build to the normal UK loading gauge, and can take light trains)
