The Watercress Line in Hampshire is to get into the fun of Halloween with a spooktacular Wizard Week that will scare visitors with thrills and chills.
Plenty of eerie excitement will be brewed up for little wizards and witches during the spine-tingling Wizard Week between 26th October 26 and 3rd November 3.
As well as magical steam train rides, fearless families can enjoy spooky activities and enchanting adventures.
There’s will be a spooktacular feast of Halloween fun including getting spellbound whilst exploring Harry Potter-style coaches with magic wands.
Budding wizards can travel on The Wizard Express through The Watercress Line’s four heritage stations, including stop to experience the famous footbridge where scenes from the Harry Potter films were shot.
Tickets on the Watercress Line offer unlimited train travel, meaning visitors can explore the line and its heritage stations at their own pace make it a hair-raising day to remember.
Among the creepy attractions are:
- Slime laboratory where Professors Slugwind and Apricus will show visitors how to create their own slime, which they can take home with them.
- Upstairs in the Goods Shed at Alresford, a circus skills workshop will demonstrate circus skills where visitors will be encouraged to try juggling and other tricks.
- At 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm each day, magic shows will keep young and old visitors entranced.
- Visitors who are dressed as their favourite spooky character can take part in a frightening fancy dress competition, which will be held each day at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Come dressed as a a witch, wizard, or creepy creature, and there will be a chance to win a prize in one of three categories: ‘Brand New Wizards’ for under 4s, ‘Emerging Wand Talent’ for children aged 4 to 8, and ‘Potion Masters’ for children over 8.
- At Ropley, some creepy crawlies and creatures await inquisitive eyes.
- There will also be eerie arts and crafts, and spooky stories, and for for an additional cost children can craft a wand.
As well as appearing in Harry Potter films, has featured in Jamie and Jimmy’s Friday Night Feast, BBC Countryfile, Great British Railway Journeys, Call The Midwife, The Wrong Mans with James Corden, and many historical documentaries.
