Great Western Railway has released an update on the Gloucester car park improvement project.
The Bruton Way crossing at the station has now reopened following the completion of the current stage of the project, this comes after Great Western Railway committed to reopening the crossing as quickly as possible.
The first 50 spaces of the resurfaced car park will also now be open, including disabled bays, taxi points and cycle racks.
It is hoped that Gloucester’s full car park will reopen on the 22nd of October after vegetation has been cleared and safety fencing has been installed.
The partial reopening will also allow the car park to be used for rail replacement buses during upcoming weekend closures for engineering work.
The partially reopened car park can be seen below, with the red boxes marking those areas that are due to be opened from the 22nd of October.

This is pretty poor. The carpark has been shut for the best part of a year to achieve what exactly? Anyone who has ever managed a project knows to minimise cost you do the job quickly. Is it any wonder that rail related projects cost so much when this sort of thing goes on.
