Steam locomotive set to pass through Devon this Saturday

61306 Mayflower

Steam locomotive 61306 Mayflower is set to haul part of The English Riviera Express this Saturday, 10th August 2024.

Departing High Wycombe with diesel traction at 05:47, the train will pass through (06:01), Haddenham and Thame Parkway (06:10), (06:29), Oxford Parkway (06:43), Oxford (06:52), Swindon (Wilts) (07:49), (08:15), (08:36), Bristol Temple Meads (09:07) and Taunton at 10:00.

Here, 61306 Mayflower will be attached to the train and will depart at 10:57. The locomotive will then pass through Exeter St Davids (11:39), Dawlish Warren (11:54), Newton Abbot (12:16), Paignton (12:35) and Kingswear at 13:14.

After time at Kingswear, the train will depart at 16:35 and will pass through (17:49), Dawlish Warren (17:57), Exeter St Davids (18:19), Taunton (19:59 – NOTE: Now diesel hauled), Bristol Temple Meads (21:03), Bath Spa (21:21), Chippenham (21:37), Swindon (Wilts) (21:57), Oxford (22:45), Bicester Village (23:15) and High Wycombe at 23:59

  1. Just wanted to share the amount of coal used and pollution compared with how many modern day cars equivalent fossil coal burning it takes to make that journey with coal ,we are told not to burn coal ,.
    In retrospective what’s your excuse?
