ÖBB Rail Cargo Group has established a new TransFER freight service between Salzburg in Austria and Augsburg in Germany.

The new service will provide a central link to all of central and south-eastern Europe, and improve the region’s entire logistics chain.

The new TransFER service operates to a fixed timetable with two round trips per week on a non-stop service between the important economic centres of Salzburg and Augsburg.

Salzburg is a central hub of the Austrian railway network, whilst Augsburg is an important industrial and logistics centre in Southern Germany.

As well as promoting the flow of goods between both regions, the new TransFER service also improves the entire logistics chain in Central and South-Eastern Europe.

With its comprehensive end-to-end logistics solutions, the TransFER services benefit customers from a variety of industries as it provides both conventional wagonloads and container transport by sustainable rail. The TransFER service is also suitable for transporting dangerous goods.

As well as the point-to-point service such as between Salzburg and Augsburg, ÖBB Rail Cargo Group has the capability for comprehensive end-to-end logistics solutions that include first and last mile so that goods can reach their destination smoothly, even for customers without their own siding.

As well as the latest TransFER service, the company also provides additional freight forwarding services including transhipment, modern warehouse logistics, and professional customs clearance.

Earlier this year, Rail Cargo Group extended its TransFER services from Germany and Austria to Italy, Slovenia, and Hungary.

Whilst TransFER services operate to a fixed timetable, ÖBB Rail Cargo Group has recently introduced a TransFLEX service for customers who require an ad-hoc solution, such as the chemical and mineral oil industries which are very time-sensitive.
