In its Autumn 2024 British Railway Announcements published today, Wednesday, 7th August, Europe Plc, announced the imminent release of almost 200 new products for N, OO and O Scales.

The new products will be available from Bachmann retailers within the next three months, but before then it has revealed three new tooling projects for this autumn: a Class 08/09 Diesel Shunter and NAA Propelling Control Vehicle in OO scale, and an LNER V2 Class Locomotive in N scale.

The V2 is Bachmann’s first new model of the class for 20 years and will be available in LNER- and BR-era livery.

The BR version has smokebox door numberplates with the top front lamp brackets mounted in a higher position, and a late-BR locomotive is depicted with three separate cylinders and outside steam pipes instead of the monobloc cylinder castings that the entire class was built with. There are named locomotives and two versions of the standard tender

The latest additions to the Graham Farish range of rolling stock have more of a Western flavour, with four different Hawksworth carriages returning to the range.

Four different coach types are available in GWR Chocolate & Cream, BR Maroon, Blue & Grey, and the RTC Red and Blue colour scheme. There are also models of the Hawksworth Auto-Trailer including RTC ‘Test Car 1′.

The Western theme continues in OO scale and in the Bachmann Branchline range a GWR Hall Class, three preserved locomotives, and Class 117 three-car and 121 single car DMUs.

Wagons include GWR china clay wagons, vans and brake vans, and BR Standard brake van and 16T mineral wagons including slope-sided versions.

Other new rolling stock includes nine different BR Mk.1 coaches, in various liveries, many with pre-fitted passengers, and new versions of SR PMV and CCT vans and the LMS 50ft inspection saloons.

The Bachmann Branchline Class 08 and 09 diesel shunters come in original BR Green, DB Cargo Red, and Retro BR Blue liveries, with a full lighting suite for both analogue and users and SOUND FITTED options; SOUND FITTED DELUXE versions include the new Auto-Release Coupling system.

The 08/09 models are the first to feature Bachmann’s new ‘Bach-Up’ Stay Alive system fitted as standard which provides uninterrupted power when running on DCC.

New models in Bachmann’s EFE Rail range are all for OO scale. They include the NAA Propelling Control Vehicle (PCV) which depicts vehicles created for Rail Express Systems in the mid-1990s, and directional lighting and cab lighting for DCC users.

A model of the London Underground 1962 Tube Stock in motorised format will also be available, with a four-car set depicting a Central Line train working to West Ruislip.

In Bachmann’s Scenecraft range there are several popular items in OO scale, including the diesel fuelling point and fuel storage tanks, and in OO9 scale two new structures depict the station at Tan-Y-Bwlch on the Ffestiniog Railway. O scale Scenecraft models include a selection of lineside and town/country accessories.

Full details of Bachmann’s Autumn range can be found in the Autumn 2024 British Railway Announcements Catalogue which is published with the Bachmann Times, the official magazine of the Bachmann Collectors Club.
