The High Wycombe and District Model Railway Society is set to host MRX24, continuing the tradition of the Society’s Wycrail exhibition.
This “small, friendly, and family-oriented” model railway exhibition will take place on Saturday, 9th November.
Building upon the success of the previous year’s Wycombe MRX23 and the Society’s Clubroom Open Days, this event remains a favourite among local enthusiasts and seasoned modellers.
The Wycombe MRX24 will showcase eleven high-quality and inspiring model railway layouts, encompassing a broad spectrum of well-known scales and gauges such as N, TT, H0, 00, 7mm, and 00-9 narrow gauges.
Sales stands and traders will also attend and will have a range of ready-to-run models, books, and 3D printed detailing parts will also be for sale.
The Society is delighted to collaborate with their sponsors, The Transport Treasury and AGR Model Railway Store in Leighton Buzzard.
‘Mothecombe’ (00 gauge), the model layout made by the junior members, will also be showcased, demonstrating its remarkable ongoing progress and affirming that the hobby thrives among the model societies’ youngest members.
The exhibition is open from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm at the Cressex Community Centre & Social Club, located at 203 Cressex Road, High Wycombe, HP12 4PZ. Entry fees are £5.00 for adults, £1.00 for children aged 6-16, and complimentary for children under six.
Founded in 1971, the High Wycombe and District Model Railway Society has evolved into one of the premier model railway clubs in the South East of England. It boasts a diverse membership of over 30 individuals, ranging in age from 8 to 90, and includes a dynamic Junior modellers section.
The Society boasts private rooms available to members seven days a week, centrally located in High Wycombe with views of the railway station. Additionally, regular open days are hosted monthly from September through June.
The Society’s interests are diverse, featuring layouts that cater to both North American and traditional British tastes. Presently, the Society boasts several layouts in various scales, including 0, 00/H0, and narrow gauge, all either completed or in progress.
These layouts are consistently enhanced and run by members and guests during official club nights on Mondays and Wednesdays, as well as during daytime sessions on Thursdays from 10 am to 2 pm. Additionally, many of the Society’s layouts are frequently showcased at exhibitions throughout the country.
