Enjoy the beauty of Wales with unlimited travel tickets

The stunning beauty of is now easier to explore thanks to special tickets introduced by that allow unlimited travel by rail for one or four days.

From the stunning beaches and the charming harbour town of Tenby in southwest Wales to the castles at Harlech, Conwy, and Caernarfon in the north, customers can enjoy unlimited rail travel at off-peak times with the special passes.

By using rail to explore Wales, people will be able to travel sustainably when exploring the country’s beauty.

Unlimited travel tickets are available for either one day or any four days in an eight-day period, and are valid on any train after 9.30 am. Tickets can also be used on selected TrawsCymru bus routes to provide more connections and route options. 

Four days of unlimited rail travel over an eight-day period are available with the Explore Wales, Explore North and Mid Wales and Explore South Wales tickets, while Explore West Wales and Explore Cambrian tickets offer unlimited one-day travel.

Tickets can be used for travel to all stations in Wales, the lines bounded by Shotton – Crewe – Abergavenny, and the Chepstow to Gloucester line. Tickets are valid for travel after 09:30 Monday to Friday, and all day on Saturday, Sunday, and Bank Holidays.

The off-peak restrictions do not apply to travel between Llandudno and Blaenau Ffestiniog, Shrewsbury and Swansea on Heart of Wales services, west of Carmarthen, between Aberystwyth, Machynlleth, and Pwllheli, or between Wrexham Central and Bidston.

Off-peak restrictions also do not apply to bus services. As well as Transport for Wales services, the tickets can also be used on services operated by CrossCountry, Great Western Railway, and Avanti West Coast.

The tickets are especially useful when used in conjunction with Transport for Wales free walking and wellness app.

Tickets can be purchased on the Transport for Wales website, or app, from local railway station booking offices, or onboard from a conductor.

Unused tickets are refundable, subject to an administration fee.

Wales is a beautiful country to explore with lots of attractions and these unlimited rail passes provide visitors and local people with the opportunity to explore using the railway.

The selection of passes available allow customers to travel from North Wales to South  Wales with stops in between, or simply to explore just one region.  There’s a pass available for everyone and we hope to encourage people to use them and travel sustainably.

  1. Shame people dont tell us how much they cost to save you looking, the 4 day in 8 costs £149, there are other passes as well
