Rail closures between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly will be continuing into September.
Network Rail is advising passengers to check before they travel while emergency repair work is carried out on the line.
Since April, Network Rail engineers have been working at Hague Bar, New Mills to stabilise the ground following a landslip.
Initially, the ground repair work should have been completed by August, however, during inspection, further issues were found with drainage.
Five drainage chambers have to be built under the line to collect water and direct it to the nearby river Goyt.
The chambers will last 120 years and require the railway to close until 23rd September.
A rail replacement bus will be running between Marple and Chinley station.
“I’m sorry for the disruption the rail closure will cause passengers. We have received a tremendous welcome from the community in New Mills and we are grateful for your patience while we carry out this important work.”
Please check National Rail enquiries for travel advice in August and September for services between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield.”
