The RMT Union says that its members, who are cleaners at Hitachi Rail in Doncaster, are on strike today after rejecting the latest pay offer.
Members work for Bespoke who has the contract with Hitachi Rail overwhelmingly said no to the pay offer.
“Some of our members are paid as little as £11 an hour on this contract and they want a reasonable increase to lift them out of the poverty trap.
“The scourge of outsourcing must be ended and we welcome Labour’s manifesto commitment to insource widely on the railway and the rest of the economy.
“We will pursue our industrial campaign at Bespoke until we reach a negotiated settlement.”
RMT general secretary Mick Lynch
