A ‘vital link’ that connects Great Yarmouth station with the town centre, holiday parks and seafront is to return for 2024 thanks to funding from the local Community Rail Partnership.
The ‘Our Bus Wherry 100’ service will run every half an hour during the day time until the 31st August.
The Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnership has funding the service, which will be operated by Our Hire Ltd, who are based in Acle.
The service has been a success for the last two years but has come under threat as Norfolk County Council has refused to support the service.
“The Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnership are delighted to have worked with Our Hire Ltd to save this popular service enabling rail passengers arriving in Great Yarmouth to reach key destinations within the town. With Great Yarmouth station being some distance from both the town centre and seafront, this is a vital link for tourism and a superb aid to both onward travel and onward connections to destinations across the Broads National Park and Norfolk Coast.”
Chris Mitchell, Chair of the Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnership
