The British Transport Police (BTP) have announced the arrest of two people on suspicion of attempted murder.
This follows a serious assault at Edmonton Green station in Enfield, north London, on Tuesday evening.
The two – an 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman – are in police custody.
The victim, a man in his eighties, is in hospital being treated for life-threatening injuries.
Police received reports at around 9.53pm on Tuesday 16 July that an assault had taken place at Edmonton Green railway station.
Edmonton Green station, which is on London Overground, was closed for a time while police and paramedics attended the incident.
The police investigation is continuing, and the BTP is asking anyone with information or who might have witnessed the assault to contact the force by texting 61016, quoting reference 766 of 16 July.
