The Landmark Trust, a building conservation charity, has announced that it will be opening a property in Greater Manchester.

Liverpool Road in Castlefield will see the opening of The Station Agent’s House.

The restored Grade I listed building is located at the hub of the world’s oldest surviving passenger railway station.

The Liverpool Manchester Railway directors acquired the house, which had previously been converted into a shop selling car parts after the line closed, in 1975.

As of the 5th July, the refurbished house is now accessible to the public for the first time.

Extensive work has been carried out on the building, including repointing the original brickwork, re-roofing and creating step free access and accessible rooms.

The accommodation has space for up to eight guests, with breaks costing from £24.38 per person per night.

The house will offer an immersive experience of the history and modernity, travelling through eras of railway infrastructure,.
