Locomotion at Shildon is set to host a six-week summer festival, which will see Flying Scotsman visit for four weeks.

Taking place from the 20th July until the 1st September, the Summer Festival will include a number of attractions, such as a ‘Shildon-by-the-Sea’ pop-up beach and street food stalls.

Flying Scotsman will be at Shildon between the 20th July until the 18th August, with steam rides behind Flying Scotsman available to book along with a cab ride experience, brake van rides and tours of the support coach.

Flying Scotsman is also set for static display days where the public can climb aboard its cab, and the Stephenson’s Rocket replica or Class 08 diesel shunter will haul the brake van rides on these days.

Full dates, details and booking information are available now on the Locomotion website.

Locomotion recently opened New Hall, housing a number of railway wagons and locomotives. We were invited along to take a look and you can see more information from the opening, by clicking here.

“Locomotion is now bigger and better than ever, so now is the perfect time for a summer-long celebration! “Whether you want to take a once-in-a-lifetime ride on Flying Scotsman, view our incredible collection or just treat the family to a fabulous day out at the North East’s best kept secret, Locomotion is the place to be this summer.”

Sarah Price, Head of Locomotion
