There will be changes to ‘s services on Saturday, 27th July, because of the popular Pride event.

This year the annual Pride march has a new route, taking marchers through Old Market Square and The Lace Market, before ending at Sneinton Market.

To ensure the event is as safe as possible, the tram service from Nottingham Station to the Royal Centre will be suspended from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm.

However, because of the expected increase in people visiting Nottingham city centre, a revised timetable with extra services will run in the morning before the parade, with services by Nottingham Express Transit (NET) trams through the city centre every five minutes.

As well as providing a clear route for the parade, changes to the tram timetable will also allow police and event security teams to easily gain access to the route. Tram services will return to their normal Saturday schedule at 12:30 pm.

Nottingham Express Transit has recently re-liveried one of its trams in a new ‘rainbow’ livery that shows support for Nottinghamshire Pride.

The rainbow tram, known as the ‘trambow’, was designed as part of a wider collaboration between Nottingham Express Transit, Alstom and East Midlands Railway.

A notable ‘ride with pride’ message on the tram promotes the celebration of the LGBTQ+ community in Nottinghamshire both during Pride and all year round.

Information about changes to Nottingham tram services are available on the NETGO! app and through Nottingham Express Transit’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok.

Several train operators are also showing their support for the LGBT+ community, such as CrossCountry where two of its diesel multiple units have received Pride-themed liveries.

Every year, thousands of people come together in Nottingham City Centre in celebration of the region’s LGBTQ+ community. We’re always committed to ensuring that people can celebrate as safely as possible, while offering limited disruption to normal service. As such, we’ll be pausing our tram service for a short window of time.

We know Saturday is always one of our busiest days, but the safety of all our passengers and the people of Nottingham is always our priority. These changes to our service have been made as we continue to work collaboratively with the local police services and Pride event organisers to ensure the day can run smoothly.”

To support our tram users on the day, our customer experience team will also be at the Royal Centre and Nottingham Station stops to advise customers on their travel plans. We thank all our customers for their patience and understanding, and we look forward to supporting the Nottinghamshire Pride organisers at this year’s event during what is set to be a fantastic day.

Trevor Stocker, head of operations at Nottingham Express Transit
