Last weekend, 60532 Blue Peter was rededicated following a seven-year-long restoration.
The restoration was completed at Locomotive Services Group‘s Crewe base.
Following the rededication, the locomotive took to the mainline, hauling a demonstration run from London King’s Cross to York.
Trustees of the Royal Scot Locomotive and General Trust and other invited guests travelled behind the locomotive to celebrate her return to full mainline operation.
“Today marks the return to mainline service (after a 22-year absence) of locomotive 60532 “Blue Peter”, one of the most powerful steam locos ever built in this country. I would like to thank my fellow trustees at Royal Scot Locomotive & General Trust for bringing this 7-year, £5 million, project to completion, and to our engineering colleagues at Crewe. The modern railway has an enormous role to play in continuing to serve the nation, so it’s important to pay homage to our transport heritage including the 150-year Steam Era without which we would not be where we are today. All of us are also indebted to the Drury family, who rescued Blue Peter from the scrapman’s torch in 1968.”

Does anyone know where I can see blue Peter tomorrow?
Saw her at Retford, she looked beautiful with not a hair out of place. Between the station, nearby bridges and lines idea, there must have been hundreds of onlookers. More than the last time the Scotsman came through.
It was fantastic watching her blast through Doncaster station.
I remember her on the TV program Blue Peter, fantastic she’s out and about again
