Dovetail Games has announced the release for Train Simulator Classic of an iconic Class 47 CFR electric locomotive from the Romanian national railway company Căile Ferate Române (CFR) and operated by CFR Calatori.
Designated EA-692, the locomotive is based on the Class LE5100 built by locomotive manufacturer Electroputere, the same company that built some of British Rail’s Class 56 diesel locomotives.
Developer Train Motion created the EA-692 with authentic detail for Train Simulator Classic.
It replicates the modernised 060 EA version which had a maximum speed of 160 kilometres per hour and used between 2009 and 2010 on passenger and occasional freight services in Romania.
The original manufacturer’s blueprints of the EA-692 were used in the development of the Train Simulator Classic Add-On version of the CFR Calatori 060 – EA 476-692-5. The result is a highly detailed model with realistic HD textures for standard and snow running.
Custom scripts provide an authentic driver experience that recreates various train systems; lights, sounds, and INDUSI signalling.
It also simulates the behaviour of the DSV safety system, and comes with a realistic pantograph, dynamic displays, and realistic braking system. To provide authenticity, sounds were recorded from the operational locomotive, including the sounds of the locomotive’s traction motors, horn, compressors, and alarms.
The EA-692 is an Add-On for Train Simulator Classic, and can be found in the Quick Drive menu. It is suitable for various of routes that provide a choice of operations for this highly detailed work horse.
Among the routes recommended routes for running the locomotive are Bahnstrecke Riesa to Dresden, Frankfurt to Koblenz, and Regensburg to Ingolstadt, which are all available separately on the Steam Store.
