Class 197 trains have begun operating between Swansea / Carmarthen and Pembroke Dock this week.
Passengers can look forward to travelling on the new trains to holiday hot spots like Tenby and Saundersfoot, with the majority of services using a three-carriage train.
With a boost to capacity, services on the line can be operated with up to four carriages for the busy summer season.
Customers may still see the older trains operating services as the transition to the new trains continues.
“Since the first of our brand new trains came into service last year we’ve been working hard to add more routes across Wales.
“We’re delighted to be able to start running new trains on the Pembroke line in time for the summer holiday period.
“TfW is committed to providing people with an alternative to using cars and these new trains are comfortable with improved seating, air conditioning and customer information.”
Marie Daly, Chief Customer and Culture Officer at Transport for Wales

It’s only for tourists. Pathetically inept for locals. Not green alternative to a car whatsoever.
And milford haven train carries on having two carriages most of time pathetic tfw planning!
About time to get new Train in Pembroke area of South Wales for ready for the summer Holiday this year (2024).
Don’t you mean West Wales? This is problem the people in power dont know anything that’s needed past carmarthen? By end summer it will have two separate trains to London plus all the West Wales trains passing through it while Milford as trains every two hours !!
