The Forge Bakehouse in station has outgrown its original premises and is now moving to a larger site within the station.

It will be located in a prime spot at the bottom of the main staircase to the footbridge.

The Abbeydale-based bakery’s new unit will open in July and continue to sell barista-made coffee, hot chocolate and tea.

Snacks such as pastries, cakes and sandwiches will also be on offer, and the bakery’s owner has announced that new items will be added to the range soon.

The relocation of the local bakery business means that its original unit is now available to those interested in opening their own business inside the Victorian station.

The unit is opposite the taxi rank, and those interested can contact East Midlands Railway.

Sheffield station is served by East Midlands Railway, CrossCountry, TransPennine Express and Northern Trains, and is also set to be served by Hull Trains in the future.

The old location has been a great introduction to the station, but the time is now right to make this a more formal agreement in the busiest part of the concourse after we’ve proven to be a hit with our handmade, high-quality produce.

Although it’s compact, customers shouldn’t be concerned. Our range will fit, and there will even be tables for customers who want seating instead of only takeaway.

We’ll be offering proper barista-made hot drinks with the best quality coffee beans, hot chocolate, and tea. No push-button coffee here. There will also be our range of pastries, sandwiches, and breads. We’ll be adding to the range as customers provide feedback on what they want to see – so watch this space.

We are delighted that Forge Bakehouse has been such a hit with our customers and its great to see a local business expand and create jobs.

With more than 10 million people passing through its doors each year, Sheffield station remains a very popular place to do business.

I’m looking forward to sampling some of the coffee and cakes myself when I next visit.
