The Steam in the County Museum, in , has opened a new book shop selling donated books.

Opening for its first customers on Sunday 23rd June, the shop is a novel addition to the museum and is expected to grow.

The money raised from the selling of the second-hand books will go towards the upkeep and operations of the attractions at the site.

Starting as an empty space, volunteers set up the shop by erecting shelving and bookcases, some bookcases were also donated for use. Once the floor plan was met, items could be displayed for sale.

The shop specialises in anything transport related, including Traction Engines and Rollers, Railways, Boats, Buses, Cars, Planes, etc.

There is also a section for architecture books focusing on the construction and civil engineering of buildings, bridges, tunnels etc. and a section on mechanical engineering, which includes books and diagrams of miniature steam locomotives.

In addition to this, the shop also offers a DVD section where customers can find a diverse selection of titles related to various modes of transportation.

The shop stays open by accepting donated items, so if anyone has any old transport books or DVDs that they no longer wish to keep, they can donate them to the shop. Items of railway memorabilia are also welcome, depending on what it is.

The shop has a DONA terminal which is set up and working. Customers can make payments and donations for each item that they buy. All donations are most welcome even if nothing takes your fancy in the shop on the day of your visit.

Hollycombe is largely famed for its operational Victorian fairground rides and attractions that are powered by steam engines.

During certain times of the year, the fairground lights up at night, giving the public the chance to experience the thrill of the fair under the lights of the rides and engines that entertain visitors of all ages.

Besides this there is a miniature garden railway, a narrow gauge quarry railway, a standard gauge railway, a working steam farm and an extensive collection of varying traction engines and steam rollers from different decades of the steam era.
