Greater Anglia train services to be free of disruptions during summer weekends

Greater Anglia has announced good news for rail travellers that there will be no engineering works on weekends this summer to disrupt their travel on the main line between , Suffolk, Essex and .

Network Rail is pausing all major works on the main line this summer, with no significant service alterations on weekends up to and including the weekend of Saturday, 31 August and Sunday, 1 September.

Passengers travelling on the Great Eastern Main Line between , , Colchester and Liverpool Street will find their services running to normal Saturday and Sunday frequencies and journey times.

Away from the main line, almost all of Greater Anglia’s regional routes there will also be also no scheduled engineering works over the same period.

That means customers being able to travel across the network as normal, without the annoyance of having to change train, having their journey times extended, or needing to use a rail-replacement bus service.

Passengers can therefore leave the car at home and travel with confidence.

As an added incentive top travel this summer, Greater Anglia has a range of Advance fares that with savings of between 60% and 70% on the standard walk-up prices. It also offers 2FOR1 entry charges to many of London and East Anglia’s top attractions.

As well as the great savings on Advance fares, Greater Anglia has a range of other fares offering great value that are available all year round. These include Duo for two people travelling together, GroupSave for groups of three or more people travelling together, a special London evening out fare for anyone wishing to stay in the capital overnight, and a Club 50 discount for those aged 50 and over.

As always, the best value fares are obtained by booking in advance, with more savings to be had by booking as early as possible.

Greater Anglia’s latest offer is a First Class upgrade, which allows passengers travelling on the Great Eastern Main Line and who have the revolutionary rail ticket app Seatfrog to upgrade to First Class from as little as £13.

We’re pleased to confirm that as well as our normal weekday services, we will be running a full service at weekends over the summer on the Great Eastern Main Line and on our local regional routes. Passengers can therefore leave the car at home and travel with confidence throughout June, July, and August.
