The East Lancashire Railway has been running steam and heritage diesel trains for almost forty years along the route between Heywood and Rawtenstall, via Bury, where it also houses a transport museum.

The line first opened nearly 180 years ago and this experience will be a chance for fathers and their families to enjoy all of the nostalgia and romance of dining by train.

Diners are encouraged to don their most dapper dress for this silver-service trip down memory lane.

Already this year, the railway has welcomed Peter Rabbit to hop on board its trains and will be hosting a Forties weekend later this month.

It has also recently launched a fundraising appeal for repairs to the High Woodhill Mill viaduct, which are estimated to cost £1.28million.

Tickets for the ‘Father’s Day Luncheon’, covering all food and drink, as well as the train ride itself, cost £67.50pp for adults and £54.50pp for children aged 12 and under. They can be purchased via the East Lancashire Railway website.

As a father myself who has enjoyed fine dining on the not to be missed ELR why not make this Father’s Day truly memorable with the Father’s Day Luncheon 2024?  Treat your dad, even grandad to a nostalgic journey along our heritage railway, accompanied by a sumptuous three-course meal served in style.
