A total of 20 LED information screens have been fitted at rural stations throughout the East Midlands Railway’s network.
While some stations previously had old screens, for the majority of the stations, this is the very first time that passengers have been able to view up-to-date arrival and departure information on the platform.
Stations in Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, and Leicestershire have benefitted from the project.
The scheme to provide rural stations with screens forms part of a wider million-pound East Midlands Railway project to ensure its customers can access accurate departure times and disruption information.
This has seen 235 screens installed at 48 stations across the region so far, and involves both fitting new equipment and upgrading existing provision.
The screens being introduced also include larger interactive screens which the operator has already placed in busier stations such as Sheffield, Lincoln, Long Eaton, Loughborough, Market Harborough and Wellingborough, and will be continuing to fit in other stations over the next few months.
As well as departure and arrival schedules, these give local information and can display safety warnings.
Operator Northern has also been working on a similar scheme to install high-contrast LED information schemes, benefitting over 170 stations to date.
The specific list of stations which have received new screens in this latest round of East MIdlands Railway installations is as follows: Aslockton, Attenborough, Bleasby, Bottesford, Burton Joyce, Carlton, Fiskerton, Gainsborough Lea Road, Hykeham, Langley Mill, Longton, Lowdham, Netherfield, Radcliffe, Rolleston, Ruskington, South Wigston, Swinderby, Thurgarton, and Whatstandwell.
We are pleased to finish this project and enhance the customer experience across a number of our rural stations.
The new information screens provide vital arrival and departure updates and allow customers to always have the latest information at hand when travelling with us.
