To enable England football fans to get home after the England v Bosnia & Herzegovina football match next month, train operator Lumo is running a special service from Newcastle to London after the match.
The match is being played on Monday, 3rd June at Newcastle United’s ground at St James’ Park with a 19.45 kick-off.
It will be the eighth time England has played at St James’ Park but the first since 2005, and is a warm-up match before the UEFA EURO 2024 tournament.
The special service to London King’s Cross will depart from Newcastle railway station at 22:20, and single tickets start from £44.90 and can be booked with no booking fee on the Lumo website at https://www.lumo.co.uk/
The match against Bosnia and Herzegovina will be one of the final chances for supporters to watch England at home before UEFA EURO 2024 tournament starts in Germany on 14th June.
All Lumo trains are 100% electric and estimated to save 95% of the CO2 compared with travelling by car from Newcastle to London and 96% travelling by plane.
All seats have accessible reading lights, an extendable tray table, and easily accessible power and USB sockets directly underneath seats.
Lumo promotes itself on its green credentials, and to make its catering more environmentally friendly water sold on its trains will be supplied in sustainable cartons. The company has teamed up with North East company Everdurance to make the new water cartons using recycled materials, which can be recycled again once they have been used.
On Saturday 11th May, Lumo teamed up with local Tyneside brewery Black Storm from Gateshead to produce a special beer for serving on board its trains for fans travelling to Wembley to watch Gateshead FC play in the Isuzu FA Trophy Final match against Solihull Moors.
It also ran a special train home from King’s Cross to Newcastle after the match.
