As announced last month, The Watercress Line will host Thomas the Tank Engine during the forthcoming half-term break.
‘Day Out With Thomas: The Bubble Tour’ will take place at Ropley station, which is home to the line’s engineering base, from 25 May to 2 June.
The Watercress Line, which hosted its Spring Gala recently, has thirty staff and nearly five hundred volunteers, and runs along a scenic route through the South Downs National Park, near the historic city of Winchester.
The day’s attractions will include:
- two brand new Rusty & Dusty outdoor entertainment shows, featuring Sir Topham Hatt, Percy, Diesel and Toad
- Terence the Tractor visiting the railway for the first time!
- Thomas decorated with bubbles
- Thomas-themed selfie spots!
- Thomas & FriendsTM activities in the play pod zones at Ropley and Alton
- story time sessions
- Thomas giveaways for every child.
Visitors will be able to ride as many times as they like on the Line’s miniature railway.
There will be vintage fairground rides for children, and refreshments will be available at Ropley’s T-Junction and at a variety of stalls.
More information and tickets are available here over on their website.
The Watercress Line, which is named after its role in transporting the crop to London in the early twentieth century, is Hampshire‘s only standard-gauge heritage railway. It runs a steam-hauled train service from March to October and throughout December.
